While neither Ed nor I are Georgetown natives, we have lived in Georgetown since we married in 1977. (We are native Delawareans though, with Ed born and raised in St. Georges’ Delaware—just above the canal—and me hailing from Seaford, Delaware)! We raised two beautiful daughters, Brooke and Jaime, and during their younger years, we took advantage of all that Georgetown had to offer… a great school system, Girl Scouts, Little League, traveling softball leagues—you name it, they were involved, and we loved every minute of it! Brooke is a pharmacist, married a great guy whom we love as our own, Lee. They have blessed us with 3 beautiful grandchildren, Blair, Jake and Lucy who actually live right in Georgetown in the home in which our girls were raised. Our youngest daughter, Jaime, returned to Delaware after teaching in Atlanta, Georgia for 8 years. Since she’s been back in Delaware, we’ve gained another wonderful son-in-law, Joe, and two more grandchildren, Charlie Rae and Steele. Jaime and Joe are both elementary school teachers, and also live in Georgetown. Interestingly, each of my girls live within 2-3 blocks of The Brick in different directions!
In 2008, we made a family decision to do a complete restoration of this historic property, and our decision to restore life to the old Brick Hotel was truly an easy one! The town of Georgetown has been good to us; we’ve had a wonderful life here, and wanted to give something back. What better thing to do than recreate such a significant piece of the town’s history? Giving both locals and visitors to our town an opportunity to once again enjoy casual dining, a quaint place to have a drink after work with friends, and first-class accommodations is what we’re after. We hope that you will find that we’ve done our job and that we’ve accomplished our goal!
While you’re visiting with us, we hope you’ll enjoy a first-class stay and exquisite pampering. Wake up in the morning, put on your luxury bathrobe, and stroll to the Parlor to help yourself to a delicious cup of Keurig coffee and breakfast treats. And while you’re here, do plan on enjoying our onsite restaurant, The Counting House.
